PERFORMING ARTS
Several artistic performances are scheduled for all Grades. Students are exposed to dance, mime, story telling and other music related performances. The cost of these is covered by the School Resource Levy. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The school has a range of extra curricula activities including such things as Choir, Debating, Chess, Tournament of the Minds, Student Representative Council and Sporting Teams. SCHOOL BAND
Through Musicorp, the Dubbo Conservatorium of Music and Allegro Music, students have the opportunity to learn musical instruments, namely woodwind, brass and guitar instruments. The students have weekly lessons and participate in several concert workshops throughout the year. The students also have the opportunity to join the Catholic Primary School‟s Band. Further information regarding lessons is available from the school office. PEER MENTORING PROGRAM
A Peer Mentoring Program operates at St John‟s Primary School, with Year 6 students being trained as iKiFiT Crew leaders during Term One and group sessions held throughout the year. A Buddy System operates between Kindergarten and Year 6 students. Year 6 students also mentor younger students as Multilit Reading Buddies. |
St John’s Primary School is part of the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst. We acknowledge the Wiradjuri, Gamilaraay and Wailwan peoples, the traditional custodians of the lands on which our parishes, schools and offices reside. We also pay our respects to elders past and present.
