Welcome back to Term 3
I would like to thank our school community for supporting our school with our Staff Development Day yesterday. The staff spent an enriching day with the team from TIPIAC - Teaching Indigenous Perspectives in the Australian Curriculum. Our partnership with TIPIAC, supported by the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst is a year long collaboration. We are very excited about this journey.
I hope our community had some time over the Winter break to spend time with family and have some rest to be ready for our exciting Semester 2. It has been great to see so many smiling faces and busy classrooms as students returned to school.
Tomorrow over 100 students from 3 - 6 will be enjoying the Dubbo Touch Football gala day. What a fun way to start Week 1. Also in Week 1, Stage 3 will be enjoying a STEM program on Thursday and there is also a Debating workshop. There are many choices for our students at SJP!
Book Week 2024
This year the Children's Book Council of Australia’s Book Week Theme is Reading is Magic! The Book Council shared the following message:
With our 2024 Children's Book Week theme; Reading is Magic, we're celebrating reading stories and their amazing power to transport minds. We are encouraging kids to be curious about the wonders in our world. It is a positive and affirming message for our young people. The magic of reading also lies in its power of enticement; a good story provokes conversations. Talking about the stories with others connects the reader with other readers. Wrapped around all of this are the "tricks" and skills of our amazing writers and illustrators, as they use all their powers of language and illustration to engage the reader in this world they are building.
For SJP - we will be organising a Scholastic Book purchasing opportunity, similar to past years and the magic of the annual Book Week parade will be held on Friday, 26th July, commencing at 10:15am - around the theme of Reading is Magic (see Library News).
P & F Meeting
Tuesday 30th July, will be the next P&F Meeting. The meeting will be at South Dubbo Tavern 6.30pm start. We encourage parents to attend and you will be made to feel very welcome.
God bless and have a wonderful week

Welcome Back to Term 3
Welcome back to our entire SJP community - students, staff and parents. I trust you were able to enjoy the winter holidays and make use of the quality family time that often eludes us throughout busy school weeks. We have a busy term ahead of us, so fingers crossed we have all recharged well, and are refreshed for Term 3!
Thank you from St Vincent de Paul
A huge thank you to the SJP community members who kindly donated to our Vinnies Winter Appeal this year, particularly on Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day.
Financial contributions totalled $450 which was donated on top of the bags and bags of blankets, clothing etc.
SJP’s contributions to this appeal never cease to amaze me - generosity and compassion demonstrated yet again. Thankyou SJP!
Please Save the Date
This term, SJP’s Meeting 4 Mass will be held at the end of Week 7 - Sunday, 8th September. At this Mass, SJP staff will be coordinating the many roles of responsibility required during a Mass: lectors, eucharistic ministers, commentators, data coordinator, pianist, choir and more! As this will be a whole school event, we extend the invitation to all of our families to attend this mass with us. Please save this date if you can.
Year 3 - Sacrament of First Holy Communion/Eucharist
Preparation Sessions are about to commence for this sacrament. There are three weekly sessions which you and your child need to attend. You only need to attend one session each week.
Mass at St. Brigid’s Church
Saturday - 5:00pm, Sunday - 9:00am and Sunday - 5:00pm
Due to heating issues in St Brigid’s, all weekday Masses will be held at St. Laurence’s Church throughout June, July, August.
Enjoy your week!
