St John's Primary School is an integral part of St Brigid’s Parish. Catholic values and traditions are taught in a formal religious education program and are a guide for all that we do. Our core task is education. Our staff devotes their classroom time to the tasks of teaching and learning.
While we strive to work in partnership with our families, we recognise that parents are the first and prime educators of their children. It is certainly our privilege to work with you and to share the responsibilities of educating your children and helping them to prepare for the future. We hope that you will experience a sense of warmth and welcome, and that there will be a rich sharing of ideas, talents and enthusiasm as together we go about the work of helping our children to learn and grow. |

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL A GREAT SUCCESS
A huge congratulations to all of the students for their efforts at the Athletics Carnival last week. The spirit of the day was one of friendly competition and there were a number of records that were matched on the day. Well done students and a big note of thanks to the teachers, especially Mrs Mills and Mrs Kenny for all of their planning and data input of results. In a very close competition, after all the track and field events had been
completed, McAuley was announced as the winning house. Well done to
the McAuley house!

KINDERGARTEN 2024 ENROLMENTS
This week we are commencing our enrollment interviews for Kindergarten 2024. If you have a child or know someone who has a child, who is eligible to commence school next year, can I ask that you contact the school office to make an appointment. Our enrolment numbers are looking very strong and we would be disappointed if people missed out on a position at our beautiful school. It is always a wonderful experience to meet with the families and show the new Kinders around the school.

SACRAMENT OF FIRST HOLY COMMUNION / EUCHARIST
For parents of Catholic students in Year 3 - enrolment weekends for this sacrament will begin this coming weekend - 10th/11th June. More enrolment
Masses will be held the following weekend on the 17th/18th June. Parents are required to attend a weekend Mass to enrol their child in this sacrament. This is a different step to registering their name which was done at the beginning of the year at the Parent Information Session. Please be aware that your child needs to take their 2 prayer cards (to give to a parishioner at the enrolment Mass), which will be given to them at school this coming week.
This sacrament is also available to any students in grades 4,5,6 who missed the opportunity to make their First Holy Communion when they were in Year 3.

VINNIES WINTER APPEAL
Winter already! It is hard to believe that winter has begun and many of us are needing multiple layers to keep warm. At this time of year, we run our annual Vinnies Winter Appeal. Families are asked to look through wardrobes and cupboards to find any outgrown winter clothing items that are still in good condition and can be donated to Vinnies. For busy parents, this can be a time consuming job which is why we run the Vinnies Winter Appeal over a number of weeks. Children can bring donations to school and leave them in the 6 Blue classroom. On the last day of school this term, when we hold our Vinnies Winter Appeal “ies’ day, all clothing donations and the financial contributions made will be given to Vinnies. Please see our latest newsletter for more details on our Vinnies Winter Appeal.

“Sometimes You Have to Be a Little Bit Naughty if You Want to Change Your Story”
“Sometimes You Have to Be a Little Bit Naughty if You Want to Change Your Story”
Beginning Monday, 4th September 2023, in the new SJC Performance Hall.
Sheraton Road will be filled by the smell of rebellion when St John’s Primary School presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. Based on the beloved book “Matilda” by Roald Dahl and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. We have had an overwhelming response from the Year 5 and 6 students during their auditions for the many lead roles. We are excited to let you know that our 2 Matilda’s are Lillith and Cleo. We will be announcing the other SJP leads soon. Last Friday, Mrs Lees and myself met with the SJC students who will be trying out for the roles of Mrs Trunchbull, Miss Honey and Mr & Mrs Wormwood. We are very excited that we will be sharing this opportunity and students from the Primary School and College working together. Each grade will be performing with the cast of 19 characters one of the songs from the show.
Tickets will be on sale soon via 123Tix.
