Week 10 – Final Week of Term 2
Welcome to Week 10 – the final week of what has been a wonderful and productive term and semester! As we approach the winter break, we want to take a moment to celebrate all that our students, staff, and families have achieved together this term.
This Friday: “Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day” – Vinnies Winter Appeal
We’re wrapping up the term in a fun and meaningful way with “Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day” this Friday, supporting the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Students are invited to come dressed in their warmest, coziest winter wear – think scarves, beanies, and dressing gowns – as we raise awareness for those doing it tough this winter. A gold coin donation is encouraged to support the great work of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Term 3 Commencement
Please note that Term 3 will commence on Tuesday, 22nd July for students.
Monday, 21st July is a Staff Development Day, where our teaching team will be working with Diocesan colleague Toni Maree Charlton to further enhance our approach to quality programming for classroom success.

Semester 1 Reports – Live This Wednesday
Student academic reports will be available via Compass from 3:30pm on Wednesday.
If you require assistance accessing your child's report, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
We encourage you to view your child’s report as a celebration of growth and progress. At St John’s, we focus on a growth mindset, supporting students to recognise both their strengths and areas for improvement – a normal and important part of every learning journey.
As part of national reporting requirements, students in Years 1 to 6 receive achievement grades for each Key Learning Area. We acknowledge the enormous time, care, and professional dedication our teachers commit to writing these reports, ensuring each one accurately reflects your child's unique progress and learning pathway.
Coming in Term 3 – NAIDOC Week 2025
We’re excited to be celebrating NAIDOC Week on Friday, 1st August.
The 2025 national theme is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”

Vinnies Winter Appeal
Our Vinnies Winter Appeal draws to a close this week. Once again, the support from many families has been very heartwarming to witness and demonstrates the compassion of our SJP community towards others. Donations will continue to be collected here until Wednesday.
On Friday, all students are encouraged to come to school wearing their warm winter woollies for Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day! For those who have not been able to donate winter goods/items, Snug as a Bug in a Rug Day is a day to show your support for our Vinnies Winter Appeal by making a small financial contribution.
Once again, thankyou for your support of this great appeal.
Year 6 Religious Education Test Results
It is with great pride that we congratulate the many students from Year 6 who recently sat the Year 6 RE Test and achieved pleasing results. Out of our 60 students, 31 of them received a Distinction and 8 students received a High Distinction. Our students on average achieved a score of 32 out of 40 which was almost 4 marks higher than the diocesan average. Well done on you pleasing results Year 6!
Sacrament of First Holy Communion/Eucharist
Thankyou to the families who enrolled their children in this sacrament at a recent Mass. Students must be enrolled to receive the sacrament next term. Parents, if you were not able to attend an enrolment Mass, please contact Sacramental Coordinator Rosalie Hosking on sacraments.dubbo@cdob.org.au
The Sacrament of First Holy Communion/Eucharist is a Sacrament of Initiation, following on from Baptism. The word 'communion' means to share or be united with. During Holy Communion we are united in a special way with Jesus as we believe we receive his body and blood. This is a very important moment that our Year 3 children identify as one of the highlights of their school year. It is also important to note that this sacrament is also available to Catholic children who are in grades 4, 5 or 6 and missed the opportunity to receive this sacrament in Year 3. Parents if this is relevant to your child, please contact Rosie Hosking on the email above.
Year 6 Confirmation Practice-Save the Date
No doubt our upcoming school break will fly by way too quickly, so this is just a reminder for parents of Year 6 students receiving this sacrament, that a practice for the celebration itself will be held on Tuesday 22nd July at 6:15 at St. Brigid's Church (the first day back at school next term).
Masonic Village Visit
This Wednesday our 4B class will visit the Masonic Village to engage with residents by playing card and board games. We know our clever Year 4 students will have their strategic thinking caps on to try and win each game they play.
Enjoy the term break! Finally - enjoy the upcoming school break. Perhaps it will be a time to travel or for some to stay home and enjoy the less hectic pace with no school routine…Wherever your family may be - stay safe and enjoy the opportunity to recharge before a busy Term 3.
